Rowenta Smart Force Extreme: our review

The Rowenta Smart Force Extreme has obtained a rating of 92 points out of 100, based on 15 opinions. It is a robot in which the Franco-German brand has put its technology and knowledge into action in the world of vacuuming, and it shows..

Rowenta has arrived in the world of robot vacuum cleaners to stay; They no longer only offer great cyclonic vacuum cleaners (among the best and best-selling on the market) or broom vacuum cleaners with excellent performance (famous for their triangular-shaped delta head).

Now with Smart Force presents a range of robot vacuum cleaners ready to stand up to the market leaders. This range includes both the Smart Force Extreme, which we analyze today, and another very interesting proposal, the Smart Force Essential, which we will also briefly comment on.

Rowenta Smart Force Extreme: start-up

The robot, as happens in some models from other brands, has a button on the bottom to turn it on and off. To charge it, you have to have it on.

In our case, it has come practically loaded. In any case, It is advisable to fully charge it before use. The time for a full charge is four and a half hours (the charger light, green, will stop flashing when the battery is full).

As is usual with robot vacuum cleaners, it is recommended that the charging base has space both to the sides (at least 1 meter) and forward (about two meters are recommended), so that the device can maneuver comfortably when leaving and recharging.

Also, as always, It is advisable that, before putting the robot to work, the cleaning area be cleared of toys, clothing, or any other obstacle that may exist, to make your work easier.

Rowenta Smart Force Extreme: operation

This robot has four cleaning modes:

Random: Go through the rooms in a seemingly random route. The robot makes decisions in real time, thanks to its infrared sensors. It is ideal for cleaning complex areas.

Random +: is similar to the previous one, but, in addition to the random movement, it also runs along the edges of the walls, for a complete cleaning of the rooms.

Spot: is the concentrated cleaning mode, suitable for those cases in which dirt is concentrated around one point (for example, if we have dropped something on the floor).

Edge: it is the edge mode, the robot runs through the rooms sticking to the walls; is ideal for speed cleaning edges and corners.

To start working, the operating mode is selected, either through the button with four squares on the top of the robot (which will alternately change between the four cleaning modes), or from the remote control; The selected mode will be shown on the robot display. Next, we press play and the robot will start.

Rowenta Smart Force Extreme panel detail

If you want to change the cleaning mode, you must stop the robot, pause it, and select the desired one, then press play.

As is common today, when the robot detects that it is running out of battery, it will return to its base to recharge. The autonomy of the Rowenta Smart Force Extreme reaches 100 minutes, thanks to its modern lithium-ion battery. It also incorporates anti-fall sensors, to avoid accidents of this type.

The Rowenta Smart Force Extreme is specialized in cleaning carpets and rugs, but this does not mean that it cannot clean hard floors. In practice, it also does its job very well on this type of floor, whether porcelain or wooden..

As for cleaning carpets, the robot applies its power and the difference is really noticeable, carpets are visibly cleaner, thanks to its motorized brush. On the other hand, in the tests carried out, it was noted that it climbs thick carpets without difficulty.

We have also seen that it presents some difficulty on rugs with long fringes; If the fringes exceed four centimeters, the robot can sometimes get stuck in them (if this is your case, you could always hide them under the rug before putting the robot to work).

The tank size, 0,25 liters, is not the largest, although it is enough for each cleaning cycle. Depending on the frequency with which it is cleaned and the dust that may accumulate in our home, it will be necessary to empty it in each cycle and the interval may be extended further (up to a week); nevertheless, Emptying the tank is quick and easy.

It is also advisable, as always, to keep the filter clean to avoid blockages. It should be cleaned at least once a month, using the brush that is integrated into the included cleaning tool.

The sponge filter and tank can be simply washed with water; They would then be left to dry in the sun for about 12 hours. The high-efficiency HEPA filter is not washable.

To clean the central hair roller and the side brushes, you can use the included tool. If hair has become tangled in the roller, scissors can be used to carefully cut it out.

The operation of the Smart Force Extreme is not excessively quiet, although it is not annoying either.. Its 70 decibels place it at an intermediate level, although clearly above others, such as the Deebot 300 (which, with 56 decibels, presents one of the best figures on the market).

In the event that you want to limit access to a certain area, the Rowenta Smart Force Extreme is compatible with virtual walls. Depending on the model, it may or may not come included (or even bring two).

Remote control

The remote control is an element that is becoming established in most robots on the market. What was once an extra is now beginning to be a basic, and this Rowenta was no different.

The control is very easy to use, with a large central button to start or pause the robot, and the buttons to choose the cleaning mode, or send the robot to its charging base (although it is not mandatory to do so from here, since it returns only when it needs to recharge ).

It also has some direction arrows, in case we occasionally want to direct it to a place. The arrows do not work with the robot in motion, but rather stop the robot; Next, we direct it where we want and start it with play.

Programming Languages

The Rowenta Smart Force Extreme is programmable. This is another function that is becoming widespread among robot vacuum cleaners. The possibility of making the robot work at certain times is very useful for many people. In this way, it is possible to make it work while we are away from home, and have our home clean when we arrive.

To program it, the first thing is to set the clock. To do this, press the play button and the clock button on the top of the robot for two seconds, simultaneously. Next, with the square and play buttons, you can add and subtract an hour, respectively. Once the time is set, press the clock button and adjust the minutes in the same way; To finish, press the clock button again.

To program it, press the square button and the clock button simultaneously for two seconds, and proceed in an analogous manner to that explained above, to establish the time at which the robot will be programmed to start working.

The robot's display will show a clock, to indicate that it is programmed. When you arrive at that time, your work will begin.

Drawbacks

This Rowenta robot shows very good performance on all types of terrain, both carpets and hard floors., it is not easy to find fault with it. Opinions on the Rowenta Smart Force Extreme

It's a high performance vacuum cleanerIt is very efficient on all types of surfaces and includes a remote control. Vacuum even the dust that you can't see, I highly recommend it.

I have a Rowenta sled vacuum cleaner, which is the best I have ever had, and that is why I have opted for this brand. This robot is great, it is a more than perfect purchase. I program it to vacuum while I'm away, so when I get home everything is super clean. Picks up a lot of dust, and goes perfectly under furniture. I have some rugs at home, and it goes over them without problems and without getting tangled anywhere. It works for all types of floors and is aesthetically very beautiful. Absolutely recommended.

It is my best purchase, I was guided by the brand, and I have not been wrong. I am allergic, and emptying the container is very simple, you must not come into contact with dust. I'm very happy.

It's perfect, I have a cat at home and he always had hair under the furniture. With this robot, I can always have a clean house, and since it can be programmed, when I get home it has already cleaned everything.

I am very happy with this robot, It is very powerful and sucks up all the dirt. Plus, it returns to the charging base without problems.

It is simple and efficient, It has a good functionality-price ratio. In addition, it vacuums very well, picks up dirt that the broom sometimes leaves behind, and cleans areas that are more difficult to access, such as under furniture or beds.

Cleans very well, even edges and corners. It is powerful, and leaves carpets very good (up to 1,5 centimeters high). It is very easy to use and maintain.

Why buy a Rowenta Smart Force Extreme

If you are looking for a robot to keep your carpets clean, this may be a great option.

If you want a robot that works well on all types of surfaces, with a good value for money, and manufactured by one of the leading brands in the world of vacuum cleaners, the Rowenta Smart Force Extreme is your choice.

Rowenta, leader in the world of aspiration

The Rowenta brand has more than a century of history, since it was founded in 1884 by Robert Weintraud. Since 1988, it belongs to the French group SEB, which includes other well-known brands, such as Krups, Tefal or Moulinex.

In addition to other appliances, such as irons, dryers, epilators or various kitchen appliances, Rowenta specializes in home cleaning. Its cyclonic vacuum cleaners triumph for their performance and excellent quality-price ratio (like the best-seller RO 3753), and its broom vacuum cleaners are a benchmark in the category, due to their good performance and their characteristic delta head, in the shape of a triangle, which greatly facilitates cleaning edges and corners.

  1. Hello, Antonio, thank you for visiting us.

There in Las Palmas, from what we see, there are two technical services, we don't know if you have tried them both, one in CRTA. ALMATRICHE ALTO, 198, and another on AV. JOSE MESA Y LOPEZ, 15 1st.

On the other hand, if they do not resolve it, you can contact the headquarters in Spain, at:
    GROUPE SEB IBÉRICA SA

  2. Good morning
I have had a Rowenta smart force extreme since last January/2019.
It has worked perfectly until last July. He started having problems when he needed to use reverse gear. It made a very strange noise, as if some gears were not working. When trying to make her walk backwards with the remote control
It advances only one or two centimeters and immediately stops and blocks, making it impossible for it to walk backwards from the remote control.
I took it to the local technical service indicated on the website and after 10 days they returned it to me the same way, so I had to take it back. The technical service tries to convince me that it is not possible for me to walk backwards with the remote control. I tell him that it worked. They will try to eliminate the noise of the gears when performing suction maneuvers, for which they have ordered spare parts from the factory.
I am surprised at the lack of effectiveness of the Rowenta ST in my city MSS Las Palmas. What do I do, to what upper step should I or can I complain, to the business that sold me said appliance? or to the distributor for Spain in Barcelona?
Thank you very much and best regards

  3. Hello, Pilar, thank you for visiting our page.

The problem can come from several places, on the one hand, robots are devices that, although they do their job alone, require certain maintenance, since sometimes they get clogged, because hair accumulates and gets inside and becomes tangled. , jamming the machine. In addition to cleaning the central brush as best as possible, you must also clean the terminals of the robot and the charging base, so that they make good contact and charge well.
It is also advisable to periodically clean the filters, so that they do not become clogged (as this could cause a loss of suction) and change them if necessary (I don't know if you have done it already, but if you put it on every day and it is a year old, in initially, maybe you should have changed them).
If, once all these maintenance works have been done, you see that the device still does not suck as it should, we advise you to go to where you bought it, since if it was a year ago, it will be under warranty.

    A greeting.

  4. I have had this model for a year and I run it every day, now it does not vacuum like before, the box does not fill with dirt and remains on the roller, therefore it does not clean well. What problem could it have?
