Start up

The first charge, as usual, is recommended to be long-lasting, you can leave it overnight (approximately 12 hours). Afterwards, 4 hours will be enough to charge the robot.

The location of the charging base must be in a place where the robot has room to maneuver and can detect it properly. It is recommended to leave a space of approximately one meter on each side of the base, and 2 meters forward. In addition, the base must be well supported on a wall, so that it does not move when the robot is placed on it.

When a full charge has been made, the robot can be put into operation, using the button on the top, or through the Mi Home application, available for iOS and Android. The app, in addition to being used to start the robot, allows us to access all its functionalities, making it the recommended option.

The plastic base that is included can be attached to the charging base, and serves so that the robot does not wet the floor when it has the water tank on.

Roborock E25: operation

With this new generation, Xiaomi and Roborock, the manufacturer of its robots, are also fighting for leadership in the mid-range of robots. They do not reach the excellence of the Vacuum 1 and Vacuum 2 Roborock, but they share many characteristics with them, and are even superior in some of them, such as tank capacity.

One of the characteristics that defines the Roborock E25 is its advanced navigation system. Instead of using lasers, like its older brothers, the E20 uses gyroscopic technology. Gyroscopes are a type of compass, which allows the robot to orient itself, so it knows where it is moving and how many degrees it turns each time it changes direction.

Thus, the Robot is capable of mapping the room in real time. Mapping may not be as precise as laser-based mapping, but it comes pretty close. (although, it is not predictive, like this one, and it is a little slower). And, in any case, it performs much better than robots with random navigation systems, for a price similar to that offered by many of these.

In addition, In the case of the E25, its gyroscopic system is dual, and is based on the technology provided by cutting-edge multinationals, such as the Japanese Epson and the German Bosch., improving fluidity and precision compared to systems based on a single gyroscope.

Roborock E25 dual gyroscope

On the other hand, it has a powerful processor and 13 sensors (recharging, infrared, movement, fall...), so it has a fluid and orderly navigation; He moves easily, following large straight lines, and he knows where he has gone and where he has not.

In this way, you can clean effectively and efficiently. Nothing is left to clean, and it doesn't repeatedly go through the same places, like robots with random navigation systems.

The Roborock E25 has the ability to mop, like the Roborock Vacuum 2 (which its predecessor, the Xiaowa Lite, lacks). In addition, its 1.800 Pascals of suction power (a figure it shares with the Xiaomi Vacuum 1) allow it to carry out great home cleaning.

Roborock E25 airflow

As for its lithium battery, its 2.600 mAh provides it with a range of between 60 and 90 minutes, which, together with its efficient navigation system, allows you to clean a medium-sized home on a single charge.

E25 is suitable for homes with pets. Its brushes and wheels are designed not to get tangled in hair, and its high power does the rest, leaving your home perfectly clean.

It also performs a good job on carpets, since it is capable of rising up to 2 centimeters and activates maximum power automatically when it detects that it is on a.

For its part, the high-efficiency filter is EPA 11 and washable, like that of the Xiaomi Vacuum 2.

As for the noise level, it moves in a fairly good environment, similar to that of the Vacuum 2, between 55 and 70 decibels.

Connection to Wifi and Mi Home app

Handling the robot is very simple. As always, it is possible to activate the robot using the top button, but To get the most out of it, you have to use the Mi Home app.

First, the app is installed on the mobile phone, and the robot is connected to the Wi-Fi in our home. To do this, we press the Spot button and the return button to the charging base at the same time for a few seconds, until the robot emits a message, indicating that it is going to search for the Wi-Fi connection.

In this case, the Roborock E25 is an international version, which has a European plug. When linking it to the Mi Home application, we will choose the European server, and when you click on add device in the top right corner, the E20 will appear on the nearby devices screen, and when you click on it, you will go to choose the type of connection.

When choosing the Wi-Fi network, you must choose the 2,4 GHz network, and not the 5 GHz one (which will say 5G or something similar), since if not, it will not work (it is common in devices of this type, since the 2,4 GHz network has a greater range). To facilitate the connection, both the robot and the mobile must be placed near the router when making this first pairing.

Once linked, we can control the robot remotely, simply by having the router turned on (since it is the one that serves as a connection between the mobile phone and the robot). That is, from which we have an Internet connection on our mobile, through data or through a Wi-Fi network.

Through the app, we have various information about the status of the robot and the work carried out (battery level, time and surface cleaned in the last cycle). Of course, every time you clean, it will generate a new cleaning map, it does not save the previous ones to interact with them. This is a characteristic of more expensive robots.

At the bottom of the app, there are three buttons: on the left, the one to return to the charging base (recharge), to manually send the robot there, if desired. The cleaning one, to start the cycle. And the button on the right, which allows us to select the mode we want, with several alternatives: mop mode, silent mode, standard, strong and maximum power.

By pressing the button with three dots, at the top right, you access other settings. There, we can configure the zone, the volume, the Carpet Boost (by which it activates the turbo mode when it detects that it is on a carpet) and the Pure Mopping Mode (which must be activated to be able to select the mop mode in the main menu ), as well as DND (do not disturb), so that it does not emit messages at night, and does not disturb.

Of course, the Roborock E25 is programmable. To do this, you must enter the Timer Cleaning option, and program the days and times at which you want it to clean, in a similar way to creating an alarm on your mobile.

As well You can choose the voice of the robot and the language (although, at the moment, there is no voice in Spanish), and turn off notifications.

The app also has a maintenance section, which shows us the status of the consumables, with a percentage evaluating the status, and an estimate of how much time is left before it is advisable to change them.

Additionally, as usual, through the Mi Home app it is possible to control the robot manually, if at any given time we want to move it to another place, using the Remote Control option, similar to operating a remote-controlled car.

On the other hand, the firmware is updatable, which means that not only will we have improvements and bug fixes in the app, but new functionalities can be included over time.

Voice commands

The robot is compatible with voice command systems, such as Alexa or Google Home, but unfortunately, The manufacturer, Roborock, has not implemented it for European robots, apparently due to problems with the new data protection regulation. Therefore, today it is an option that is not available here.

Scrub

The Roborock E25 has the possibility of scrubbing, which gives it greater versatility in cleaning the home. This is one of the characteristics that it shares with the Vacuum 2 Roborock, unlike other robots from the brand, such as the Xiaowa Lite or the Vacuum 1.

The water tank has a capacity of 140 milliliters, enough to clean medium-sized rooms. It works by capillarity, by the action of gravity. The water from the tank soaks the mop, and it moistens the floor as it moves.

How does he do it? The result is acceptable and helps us keep our home clean.. It should be noted that, as the water falls little by little, if for any reason the robot were to get stuck, for example, between the legs of a chair (although, thanks to its advanced navigation system, this is very rare) , it could form a small puddle.

And it must also be pointed out that, If you buy the robot mainly for this scrubbing option, there are other alternatives on the market that have it better solved, like robots Conga (in a similar price environment, the Conga 1590, for example) or Deebot Ozmo.

Roborock E25 mopping

The plastic base included is to be placed next to the charging base; In the event that the robot is going to carry with the water tank on, this plastic will prevent the floor from getting wet.

Advantages of the Roborock E25

Very powerful engine

Mopping and scrubbing

In addition to doing a great job vacuuming the home, the Roborock E25 includes mopping and scrubbing, so it provides a greater comfort and versatility when it comes to keeping our home clean.

Roborock E25 tank

Large warehouse

Its solids deposit is one of the largest that exists, nothing more and nothing less than 0,64 liters; This way, you will avoid having to empty it very often.

Drawbacks

This is a complete and modern robot, and it is not easy to find fault with it. We can cite some issues in which it could improve, or in which other robots achieve better performance. For example, the high efficiency filter is not HEPA, but EPA, and in the scrubbing section we can find other alternatives on the market that solve it in a more perfect way.
