Conga 1490 Impulse
What will you find in this article?

General

La Conga 1490 is a multifunction robot. Can you do everything at once?

There are robots in which you cannot mop and vacuum at the same time (for example, because the mop covers the central hole). In the case of the range Conga, are robots that can do all 4 functions at the same time (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and scrubbing).

La Conga 1490 has a mixed tank, with a compartment for liquids and another for solids, so that it can store water in one part, while solid waste is deposited in the other.

Is it suitable for all types of floors?

Yes, the Conga 1490 Works well on all types of soils. Thanks to the suction power it has and the combined work of its central brush and its two side brushes, it effectively captures dirt on all types of hard floors and on rugs and carpets; logically, always indoors.

My house has a large area. Can you clean it completely?

The 1490 has a very long autonomy, up to 160 minutes, so it can clean medium-sized homes without problems. Besides, has loading and continuation, thanks to Total Surface technology: if it doesn't finish cleaning everything, it will return to the base and, once charged, it will leave again to finish the cleaning.

Loading and continuing

How do you clean the carpets?

This robot does a good job on carpets, since it has Turbo Clean Carpet technology. Thanks to a sensor, The robot detects when it is on a carpet and automatically activates the turbo, to achieve a deeper cleaning. In addition, it is capable of overcoming obstacles up to 2 centimeters high, so carpets of a certain thickness are not a problem.

Will you clean under furniture?

Yes, in the case of Conga 1490, has no problem getting under furniture, as other robots do. As long as, of course, there is enough space (the height of the 1490 is 7,5 centimeters).

How often do you have to replace the robot's spare parts?

It depends on how frequently the robot is used, and the care taken in its maintenance. The guidance provided by the manufacturer is that the filter should be changed every six months.

What maintenance needs to be done on the robot?

In addition to emptying the tank, it is advisable to regularly check the condition of the brushes, to free them from dirt, hair, threads or other elements that may affect their operation or that may contribute to their deterioration.

As well the high efficiency filter must be cleaned regularly (to do this, you can use the included cleaning tool brush), and clean sensors, wheels and charging terminals, with a soft, damp cloth (and then dry it with a dry cloth).

Do you have a remote control to control the robot?

No, in principle you will have to manage it through the app (which, on the other hand, provides access to a greater number of functions). However, you can purchase it optionally if you need it later (or if you prefer that I bring it now, you can opt for the Conga 1590, which already includes it as standard).

Is it valid for homes with animals?

Yes, thanks to its great suction power and filtering system, it can be very useful in homes with pets. Nevertheless, It may be advisable to additionally purchase the BestFriend Care rubber brush, which is optional in this model, and which greatly prevents tangles. (or, as we mentioned in the previous point, decide on the Conga 1590, which includes it as standard).

Moreover, It's a pretty quiet robot., so it will not be annoying for animals or people.

Conga 1490 Pulse silence

Does it automatically detect dirt?

No, it doesn't, the Conga 1490 Impulse It will clean 100% of the home surface, thanks to its advanced gyroscopic navigation, but it does not have a system that detects where there is the most dirt. If that It has a cleaning mode, Twice, that we can activate in the areas with the most traffic or where there is more dirt, in which the robot will make several passes, for a more thorough cleaning.

Mapped

Do you save the mapping or do it again every cleaning cycle?

The map that creates the Conga 1490 is not saved (except in cleaning history) or interactive. It allows us to see the progress of the robot in each cleaning cycle, and to control where it has cleaned and where it has not, and what is the best path back to base. This way, it will clean 100% of the surface, and it will do so efficiently and quickly.

If you are looking for a robot that saves the map and is interactive, you should go for a model with laser navigation like the Conga 3290 or the Conga 3490, For example.

Do I have to do anything special for it to map? What is the best way to do a mapping?

The robot performs the mapping in real time, as it progresses. You don't have to do anything special, nor do you have to make any changes when using it to clean different homes, as it will map again each time you clean.

Real time mapping

In one of the homes I don't have Wi-Fi, can I still use the robot?

Yes, The robot can work the same even if there is no Wi-Fi, can be put into operation using the button at the top and will move around the home efficiently and effectively. However, without having the app, you would not be able to access various functionalities, such as the different cleaning modes, for example.

Can I establish cleaning zones and restricted areas, which the robot will not access?

No, with this robot you do not have these functionalities in the app, because does not save an interactive map like laser models, as we explained in a previous question (if you want to have this, you should opt for the Conga for the series 3000 or higher). Yes, it is compatible with magnetic stripes to delimit restricted areas, although in the case of the Conga 1490 does not include it (it does come standard on the Conga 1590).

Do you clean rooms?

No, the Conga 1490 does not include the functionality of cleaning by rooms.

I have a house with 2 floors. What should I consider?

La Conga 1490 has anti-fall sensors, so you avoid falling down the stairs (you will have to worry, however, about keeping them clean).

For the rest, there is no other question, since It will clean each of the floors, mapping in real time to know where it has passed and where it has not., to cover 100% of the surface to be cleaned.

Is there any element that could affect the navigation of the Conga 1490?

Although the Conga 1490 has an advanced navigation system, It is advisable to clear the area to be cleaned as much as possible., freeing it from elements that could hinder the movement of the robot (clothes, toys, chairs...).

In the case of black carpets, there does not seem to be any problems, unlike what happens with some models from other brands.

iTech SmartGyro Technology

Mopping and scrubbing

Can the mop be used on any type of floor?

The mop is interesting for cleaning hard floors, both porcelain, wood or synthetic, as it effectively traps dust. If, in addition, you use some type of specific product for mops, you will get shiny floors.

If it is used for scrubbing, care must be taken to prevent access to the carpets (as it will not detect them for this purpose, and will climb on them), or remove them, to prevent them from getting wet.

Can the robot be charged with the water tank on?

It could be, since it has electronic water dosing, but as far as possible, it is preferable not to do so.

Can the water tank be refilled when it is placed on the robot?

No, filling and emptying the tank must be done with it outside the robot.

Does the tank have to be emptied when you have finished scrubbing?

Yes, it is advisable to do so.

Can any cleaning product be used mixed with water to scrub?

Yes, You can use a non-corrosive, non-foam floor cleaner., in a proportion of one part for every 10 of water.

How many square meters does it scrub? What happens when you run out of water?

La Conga 1490 includes iWater smart scrubbing technology, allowing you to precisely dose water, thanks to its electronic pump, being able to choose between 3 flow levels (low, medium and high).

Therefore, it depends on the level chosen, although in any case, its large water tank, of about 200 milliliters, It is enough to scrub several rooms. When it runs out of water, it would continue mopping.

Conga 1490 Impulse mopping floor

Can you scrub puddles or accumulated water?

No, these types of multifunction robots mop with the water they have in the tank, but they cannot be used as a mop to collect water.

Can you overcome obstacles with the scrubbing tank? What about carpets?

La Conga 1490 can overcome heights of up to 20 millimeters, and 10 millimeters when it has the water tank on. When scrubbing, it would be advisable to remove the rugs, as you could climb on them and wet them.

Can you mop wooden floors?

In principle, there is no problem with varnished wooden floors, as long as it is well sealed, or with synthetic flooring, which usually has some resistance to humidity, and can even be water-repellent (this can be verified in the specifications of the manufacturer or distributor). In any case, This is a general conclusion, it depends on the porosity of the soil.

Is it capable of cleaning stains on the floor?

Thanks to your new bi-material mop and the intensive scrubbing technology, Conga 1490 is capable of cleaning some stains. However, although its capacity in this regard is superior to that of other robots, if the stain is very attached, it may not be able to do so.

Detail of the mop

Can the mop be washed in the washing machine?

Yes, you can wash the mop in the washing machine, at a maximum temperature of 30º.

What type of water should be used for scrubbing?

In principle, tap water is used, at room temperature.. In homes where the water has a lot of lime, it may be advisable to use filtered water, to avoid accumulations.

A small amount of non-corrosive floor cleaner can be added to the water, in a proportion of 10 milliliters per 100 of water.

Robot management, app and Wi-Fi connection

Can it connect to any Wifi?

The Wifi must be 2,4 GHz.

I am not able to connect the app with the robot.

The first thing to keep in mind is what was mentioned in the previous question, that it is not compatible with 5 GHz networks, you must choose 2,4 GHz Wi-Fi. This has been designed this way because the latter has a greater range. Additionally, when configuring the connection, the robot should not be far from the router.

It is also possible that it is a matter of phone settings. If this is the problem, keep in mind that on Android, an option called “Activate Wifi automatically” or similar (depending on the version) will normally be activated, which automatically connects to quality Wifi networks, and can cause problems.

To turn it off, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi Preferences and turn off “Turn Wi-Fi on automatically.” Return to the app, start the process again and when “Sending a message to the robot” appears, go to Settings > Network and Internet and connect to the network with a name similar to “Conga_***.” After returning to the app, in a few seconds you will see how it connects.

Another problem that some users of connectable robots encounter is due to smart routers, which connect you to the 2,4 GHz or 5 GHz network depending on the type of device. If this were your case, perhaps you would have to deactivate this smart Wifi so that it can detect it. Here you can see a tutorial about the topic.

App of the Conga 1490

I already had the connection configured, but when I entered the app, the Offline robot appears.

Sometimes it may take a few seconds for the robot to reconnect. Additionally, there may be some cases where it remains offline.

This can happen because the coverage in the place where the charging base is located is not the most adequate, which would be solved with a Wi-Fi signal booster.

It may also be that it has been disconnected due to a micro signal cut or any other circumstance.. In this case, sometimes it is solved by simply logging out of the app and logging back in.

Can the robot be controlled from anywhere or does it need to be connected to Wi-Fi?

The home Wi-Fi must be available for the robot to be accessible through the app.. From that premise, the robot can be controlled from your mobile phone from anywhere you are, whether you have a Wi-Fi or data connection: from your work, a cafeteria, from the street...

If I turn off Wi-Fi and turn it back on, do I have to configure the robot connection again?

No, when the router restarts, the robot will connect to it again.

Is Wifi essential to operate the robot?

It is not essential to manage the robot through the app (and therefore, have Wi-Fi to connect to the robot). Nevertheless, Yes, it is advisable, to be able to access some of the advanced functions. Without it, we can set it to clean automatically, pause the cleaning or send it to the charging base, through the buttons on the top.

Is the app updateable?

Yes, Notices automatically arrive when there is a new version of the firmware, informing that it is going to be updated.

What are app updates for? Is it always necessary to update?

Normally, updates will be automatic, so you don't have to do anything. Through them, problem corrections and/or improvements in the operation of the robot, battery management are received, or new functions are included.. On occasion, updating may be optional, but it is always recommended to update to the most modern version.

Can it be controlled by voice commands?

Yes, The robot is controllable by voice commands, and is compatible with Alexa and Google Home.

It doesn't appear on Google Home. How can I find it?

Press the center button on your mobile for a few seconds, or search for Google Assistant in your applications. Once the Google Assistant is open, click the button at the bottom right of the compass, which will open an assistant. There, we search Conga. We click on «Robot Conga», we click on «link», and we enter our Cecotec account, and it is linked.

Charge and autonomy

How much space do I have to leave for the charging base?

The brand recommends 1 meter on each side and 2 meters forward, although it is not essential that there be so much space, thanks to its precise gyroscopic navigation system.

Where should the charging base be located?

The ideal, apart from leaving the space mentioned in the previous question, is for it to be in a place as central to the house as possible, so that you can easily detect the base wherever it is.

Does it always return to base? If it doesn't, what could be the reason?

Normally, the robot will return to the base without problems, and by the best route. If in any case it does not do so, it may be due to an error in one of its sensors (the robot will flash according to codes, which can be consulted in the manual) or that, for some reason, it does not detect the charging base correctly. It could also be that we have moved the robot by carrying it in our hands, and that this has disoriented it regarding its location.

Conga 1490 Impulse cleaning

How long does it take to charge? How do I know it is charging?

The charging time is 3-4 hours, although the first time it is advisable to leave it charging for about 12 hours. While charging, the robot's light flashes yellow-orange, while when it is already charged, it remains solid blue. You can also see if it is charging or if the battery is full through the app. After 5 minutes of inactivity, the Conga 1490 will go into suspension.

When the robot is in the charging base, does the light always stay on?

Yes, it is always on, it does not turn off.

Does it always have to be on the charging base when not cleaning? Can't it break down or consume a lot of electricity?

Yes, as a general rule it will be on the charging base, both this and other manufacturers usually recommend that it be done this way. As for electricity consumption, it is minimal, just a few watts, so the cost is negligible.

If the robot is not in the base or it is not plugged in, it will discharge little by little.

What is your autonomy?

The robot's autonomy reaches 160 minutes in optimal conditions (Eco power level, hard and smooth floor, clear, without carpets, large rooms...). Therefore, to the extent that other power levels are used, there are more mats or the robot has to make more maneuvers, the autonomy will be reduced.

However, It has Total Surface technology, so if it hasn't finished cleaning the entire house, it will go to the base and once charged, it will resume cleaning where it left off..

Total area

Programming Languages

How is it programmed?

Can be programmed through the app, entering the corresponding option. Programming is very simple, similar to setting an alarm on your cell phone. If the controller were available (it can be purchased optionally for this robot), it could also be done with it.

Maintenance

How often do you have to change the brushes and filters?

According to the manufacturer, the high-efficiency filter must be changed every six months. Brushes depend on their use: good care and daily maintenance (removing obstructions and hair that may be tangled) can extend their life considerably, up to a year or more.

What maintenance needs to be done on the robot?

At each cleaning or, at least, when the tank is emptied, The central brush and side brushes must be cleaned, freeing them from hair, threads and other elements that may have become tangled.. This is very important, since they can prevent the brushes from working properly and/or damage their bristles.

To clean the brushes, it is best to remove them from the robot (especially the central brush), so that you can do it thoroughly and more easily.

What are the differences between the Conga 1490 and the Conga 1590?

These two robots are basically the same, with the difference that the 1590 comes with some more equipment, which can be purchased optionally on the 1490. These elements are:

  • The Magnetic Strip (magnetic tape), to delimit restricted areas.
  • The remote control.
  • The BestFriend Care rubber brush is ideal for homes with pets as it minimizes tangles.
  • The exclusive tank for solids (the Conga 1490 only includes a mixed tank, suitable for solids and liquids, while the 1590 comes with both tanks).

The difference between the two is usually around 10-20 euros, so you can decide if you prefer the simplicity of handling the 1490 and save that money, or opt for the more complete 1590. In any case, if later you wanted to purchase any of the optional items, you could do so.

However, keep in mind that it is more expensive to purchase the 1490 and then the accessories than to purchase the 1590 directly.

What are the differences between the Conga 1490 and the Conga 1690?

Both robots belong to the new Cecotec 1000 Series, the Basic range but not exempt from high performance, such as advanced navigation, based on gyroscope, automatic turbo on mats, or load and continue, for example.

La Conga 1690 Pro is the most advanced robot in the series, and for this reason, in addition to coming as standard with elements such as the exclusive tank for solids, the BestFriend Care pet brush, the remote control or the magnetic tape, it includes two interesting aspects:

An optical sensor, which complements the gyroscope to achieve more precise navigation, which allows the robot to speed up cleaning in corners or around furniture legs.

Much higher suction power, which is equal to super robots like the Conga 3690 and Conga 4090, with 2.700 Pascals, a figure that almost doubles the 1.400 of the Conga 1490.

Below, we show you the characteristics of the 3 robots:

Note: If you are on a mobile device and want to see the table showing the robots in columns, side by side, try setting it to landscape.

  1. Hello,
    We have a Conga 1490.
When the suction starts, it stops dead after a while and no light comes on.
In the app it appears that it has half a charge but we think it is something with the battery.
    Can you help me?

  2. Hello,

A couple of years ago I bought one conga 4090 has worked well for me to date, but now it stops, leaving rooms half uncleaned. In the app it appears as cleaning completed and in the activity log it appears "Cleaning warning" without giving more information. The battery is fully charged, the lights do not show any error colors, and there are no stickers or dirt that could interfere with the viewing range. The filter is clean and so are all the removable parts.
I have tried resetting the factory settings and even resetting the device itself. conga.
Could you tell me what to do?

    Thank you.

    • Hello, María, thank you for coming to our website and happy new year.

If you have a new battery, try cleaning the terminals (the plates through which it charges) with a soft cloth, both those on the robot and those on the charging base; You can also try putting the charging base in a different place, in case it is not perfectly balanced in the place it is and does not make good contact.

  6. Hello, I have the conga 1490, for some time now it has stopped working, I think it is because of the Wi-Fi, but I could do it manually before and now not even that, when it is in the charging base the Wi-Fi light is still on, the charge is complete, I hit the I start with my cell phone and it stops, it tells me to wait for a few seconds and it turns off completely. If I start it manually the same way, it comes out of the base, stops and two seconds later it stops and doesn't come out to clean, I return it to the base and it starts charging, it beeps, I start it up again and it stops again . On mobile the app tells me without line and manual nothing, that it doesn't work. I think I've had it for a year, I've cleaned it, changed brushes and nothing. Sometimes I have to turn it off because it won't stop beeping. Thank you and I hope you have a solution. I have already changed the email and configured it several times.

    • Hello, Francisco, thank you for coming to our website.

It could be for several reasons. Have you left it connected to the base, and is it plugged in? How long have you been away? In principle, if the robot is going to be without working for a long time, it is advisable to turn it off; if it has been offline (out of dock) for a long time, it will be completely downloaded; Try putting it on the base, connected, and press the central button on the top for a few seconds; You can also try turning the robot on and off using the side switch.

  9. Hi good morning,

I have one conga 1590 active, it's been a year, from minute 1, when it finishes charging it beeps and until I disconnect the base from the electrical current, it continues beeping. Apart from this, I think the charging base charges poorly, since sometimes even though the robot is in the charging base, it discharges or does not connect well to charge it and the red light goes on and when I charge it it only has the light on. the battery charging light and the wifi light, but not the power light.
Any advice on why this is, do you think I have to take it to the repair service?

    Greetings.

    • Hello, Laura, thank you for coming to our website.

The beeps can be indicative of something that is not right, and that adds to the fact that sometimes it does not charge you. Try cleaning the wheels and sensors well, and you can also try moving the base, in case where it is now there is a slight imbalance that causes it to not have adequate contact.

I have robot 1490. How can I disable the vacuum from not restarting when it doesn't finish? I have it programmed to vacuum daily, when the battery runs out it goes to the base to charge and when it is charged it restarts the vacuum. The problem is that some nights they start cleaning at night and it is a problem. How can it be solved and be able to deactivate that function. Or scheduling certain times doesn't work? By the way, the beep that can be deactivated from the app is not permanently fixed, I have to deactivate it frequently. It is updated .

    • Hello, Maite, thank you for visiting us.

Check the sensors underneath the robot and clean them with a soft cloth. Check that there is nothing tangled in the wheels (hair, threads...), which can cause a malfunction by not allowing the robot to advance correctly. You can also remove the tank and check that there is nothing stuck in the robot's suction mouth, and clean the filter in case it is clogged.

  14. Good morning,
I have been with the Conga 1490 and without problems, but since the last week when it returns to the base instead of docking and starting to charge, what it does is go back and therefore not charge.
If I engage it by hand, it moves back and disengages.
Can you give me some kind of explanation and solution to the issue?
Thank you very much in advance

    • Hello, Charo, thank you for coming to our website.

Yes, you can use them with a remote control; In the case of the 1490, it does not come as standard, but you can order it from Cecotec as if it were a spare part for the 1590 (basically, they are the same robot).

    • Good morning, the conga 1490 that I bought does not have a remote control, I use the app. I have observed that if I program it to clean at 15:00 p.m., the vacuum cleaner does not clean at that time but does so at 03:00 a.m., how can I solve it? I have the mobile time right.

      • Hello, María del Pilar, thank you for coming to our website.

Well, it's a bit strange, we had never seen this behavior before... You can try deleting that programming and creating another one, in case for some reason, that one had gone wrong for whatever reason.

As a workaround, if it does that, we can assume that it is 13 hours late, and that if you scheduled it at 3:00 it would clean at 15:00 p.m. As these are a bit odd hours to test, you can do the test with other times (for example, schedule it at 10:00 to see if it leaves at that time or at 22:00.

  16. Good evening, last week I bought the conga 1490, I have been programming it at a certain time for several days, however it never starts cleaning at that time. I have reviewed the steps to follow and I think I am doing it right. Could you solve the problem for me?
    Thank you

  17. Hello, Isa, thank you for coming to our website.

This robot does not save the map, so when you fill it with water the robot loses its thread (we understand that you stop it and take the tank).
If you are not going to use it for a few days, you can leave it on the base without problem, now if it is many days, you can turn it off. As for the other question, no, it will not notify you when the water runs out.

    • Hello, Mjose, thank you for visiting our website.

Nowadays, practically all of them come to drive with Wi-Fi through an app, but if this does not convince you or you do not have it available, what you can do is opt for one that comes with a remote control (you will not have access to all the options that It comes with the app, but you can handle it comfortably). If you want more power, you can opt for the Conga 1790 (1.600 Pa) or the Conga 1890 (2.790 Pa), in the links you can see our analysis.

  18. Hello again, Maria.

In that case, it could be that for some reason, the robot is not locating the base correctly. Try, as we told you, to restart the robot, on the one hand (you can hold the main button for a few seconds), and then, if you can, try to place the base in another place in the house. It is also important to start cleaning from the base and, as far as possible, not move the robot "by hand."

  19. Yes, every time I have asked the application to return to the base, it stops cleaning and continues spinning until it is downloaded and I have to take it to the base manually.

  20. Hello, María, thank you for visiting our website.

Do you usually have trouble returning to base? Have you tried moving it? You can, on the other hand, try restarting the robot by going to profile-robots and pressing the restart button.

  21. Hello, I have the conga 1490, and when I click on the house icon (which says charging base), the robot stops cleaning and starts moving but does not go to the charging base. In addition, I set it to clean in automatic mode, and when I finished the house, it went into edge mode on its own. what I do? Do I restart it? How do you restart?

    • Hello, Beatriz, thank you for coming to our website.

Well, it's difficult to know without more data, but it has nothing to do with being connected, the robot can clean just the same. Try placing it well on the charging base and leaving it charging for 3-4 hours, and clean it again.

  24. Good afternoon!! I recently purchased the 1490 (very happy with it) without knowing that it is the 1590 model that comes with more accessories. I use the robot in two different houses, one of them without Wi-Fi so I would need to buy the remote control to access the functions but I can't find it in any online store, not even on Cecotec's own website! Any physical store in Madrid or idea of where and how I could get it? Thank you very much for your excellent information!!

    • Hello, Barbara, thank you for coming to our website.

Does the robot return to base on its own when it is finished or does it ever get lost? You can try changing the base location, in case there is not enough coverage in that area (even if the cell phone has it, the robot may not).

  26. Hello, Ana, thank you for visiting us.

Try to have the robot and the mobile phone close to the router to facilitate the connection. If you still end up with the first point, try going to the Wi-Fi connections on your mobile phone and looking for the one that says Conga, you choose it and a few seconds later, you enter again and choose the one with the router again.

  28. Hello, Carmen, thank you for visiting our website.

Well, we have never found ourselves in that case, but we assume that yes, when connecting to the new router it will have new connection parameters, so you will probably have to do what you mentioned and reconnect it.

Which way do you recommend that is shorter?

    • Hello, I bought one a few days ago Conga 1490, I have used it a couple of times and I am very happy, but I have several questions, let's see if you can help me? When I stop it to refill the water tank, the map is deleted and it starts again I think, is there a way to follow where I was going? And another thing, if I'm not going to use it for several days, I can turn it off charged and leave it connected to the base, does it discharge? And finally, when the water is running out, does it notify you in some way? I haven't seen it, I think, thank you very much?

  31. Hello, Cristina, thank you for visiting our website.

For the robot there is no correct direction, that is, it navigates based on the best route it calculates, which is why sometimes it will go in one direction and other times in another.

    A greeting.
