Assessment

94

La brand Conga It is divided into 5 series, from 1000 to 5000 (in addition to the old Slim series, which still allows you to get basic robots at exceptional prices).

The 1000 Series, to which the 1490 belongs, would be the entry-level one, but it is by no means exempt from great qualities.. Its high suction power and the ease of handling the robot however we want place it rather in the mid-range, in combat with robots from other brands that in some cases have much higher prices.

Note: Conga 1490 is no longer for sale.

Therefore, if you have come this far, you can take a look at these new generation robots, such as the Conga 1790 (with gyroscopic navigation), or the Conga 3890, with laser navigation at a reasonable price.

Our assessment

La Conga 1490 Impulse has obtained 94 rating points out of 100.  It has a notable suction power of 1.400 Pascals, capable of effectively trapping dirt on all types of surfaces, and is capable of performing four functions, since it sweeps, vacuums, mops and scrubs, and doing them at the same time.

On the other hand, its robust and modern design is very attractive, and provides the convenience of being able to be operated by voice commands and through an app, which also allows us greater versatility in its use.

Conga 1490 Impulse: What's in the box

How is the difference Conga 1490 from other robots Conga

Conga 1490 vs Conga 1590

These two devices are very similar. We could say that They are the same robot, except for the equipment they include, since there are several elements that come standard in the 1590, while in the 1490 they are optional, such as the magnetic strip, the BestFriend Care brush, the remote control and the exclusive solids container.

The difference between the two is usually around 10-20 euros, so you can decide if you prefer the simplicity of handling the 1490 and save that money, or opt for the more complete 1590. In any case, if later you wanted to purchase any of the optional items, you could do so.

However, keep in mind that it is more expensive to purchase the 1490 and then the accessories than to purchase the 1590 directly.

Conga 1490 vs Conga 1690

La Conga 1690 Pro is the top of the range of the 1000 Series. Although they share many features, it is also true that the 1690 incorporates some very interesting premium elements.

The 1690, in addition to gyroscopic navigation, includes an optical sensor that provides greater precision and efficiency; and, above all, its suction power is exceptional.

If the 1.400 Pascals of the 1490 is a notable power, which allows great work on all types of surfaces, the 2.700 of the 1690 Pro place it at the top of the ranks, at the level of its sisters in the Series 3000 and 4000, and well above high-end robots from other brands that double or triple the price.

The price difference between both models is around 40 euros, so it is up to each individual whether it is worth paying that extra.

Conga 1490 vs Conga 3090

In this case, We are comparing a model with gyroscopic navigation with another from a higher series, with the most advanced laser-based navigation. At first glance, it might seem like an unbalanced comparison, but the prices of both robots are very similar, so many buyers could be hesitating between one model and the other.

The 3090, in addition to its more advanced navigation system, has the advantage that it allows you to interact with the app (define, for example, areas to clean, or restricted areas) and save the map; In addition, it has a higher suction power, 2.000 Pascals, compared to 1.400 for the 1490 Impulse.

In favor of the 1490, which has 3 scrubbing levels compared to 1 of the 3090, and its autonomy is greater, since it reaches 160 minutes compared to the 110 of the 3090. (However, both robots include Total Surface technology, so if the robot has not finished cleaning, it returns to the base and once charged, resumes where it left off).

Commissioning of the Conga 1490 Impulse

The robot comes partially charged, but it is recommended to do a long-term charge (for example, leave it overnight) before putting it to work for the first time. Subsequently, it will take between 3 and 4 hours to fully charge it.

The charging base will preferably be located in a place where there is room for the robot to detect it well (in a central location in the house, if possible) and have room to maneuver. Although it is not essential, since the 1490 is precise and moves well in small spaces, a free space of one meter on each side and two in front is recommended.

Once loaded, the robot can be started using the button on the top. It can also be controlled by voice commands, although the best way to get the most out of it is through the application.

To install the app on your mobile, it is necessary to create an account with Cecotec, if you do not have one. Once we download the app, it will guide us step by step for configuration.

It is recommended that the robot be close to the router when this first connection is made.

Using the app

As we indicated, the app is necessary to get the most out of this great robot. It is not essential, and without it you will also enjoy its great effectiveness and its orderly and efficient navigation system, but you will miss out on some functionalities, in addition to the comfort it provides in its handling.

Once installed, the app allows you to choose between the multiple cleaning modes that the 1490 includes (we tell you about them in detail in the next section), and control other aspects, such as the power level or the water flow, both when ordering the robot for immediate cleaning and when programming it.

Programming the Conga 1490

Programming the Conga 1490

For many users, One of the greatest advantages that the application provides is the possibility of controlling the robot whenever we want and from wherever we are.: at work, on the street, in a cafeteria... simply, with an Internet connection, we can order our robot to clean, and see how it does it on the map.

Mapping is used by the robot to know where it has gone and where it has not, and to know the most efficient route to return home. But, on the other hand, it must be noted that the map is not saved or interactive, as happens in higher-end robots (so you will not be able, for example, to define restricted areas on it).

When making the connection with the router, you must keep in mind that it is 2,4 GHz. Many users have dual routers, with two networks, one 2,4 GHz and one 5 GHz; If this is your case, you should choose the 2,4 GHz one (the 5 GHz one will say 5G or similar).

If your phone works with Android, keep in mind that an option called “Activate Wifi automatically” or similar (depending on the version) will normally be checked, which automatically connects to quality Wifi networks, and can cause problems (since possibly connecting to the 5 GHz network).

To turn it off, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi Preferences (or look for that option or something similar in settings) and uncheck “Turn Wi-Fi on automatically.”

Then manually change the connection; Return to the app and when the message “Sending message to the robot” appears, go to Settings > Network and Internet and connect to the network with a name similar to “Conga_***.” After returning to the app, in a few seconds you will see how it connects.

Another problem that some users of connectable robots encounter is due to smart routers, which connect you to the 2,4 GHz or 5 GHz network depending on the type of device. If this were your case, perhaps you would have to deactivate this smart Wifi so that it can detect it. Here you can see a tutorial about the topic.

Operation of the Conga 1490 Impulse

La Conga 1490 Impulse is a new generation robot, which incorporates some modern advances, as well as the experience accumulated by Cecotec in this area, which has allowed it to lead the Spanish vacuum cleaner market.

Its gyroscope-based navigation system (a kind of digital compass) allows you map the home and clean 100% of the surface, knowing where it has gone and where it has not, or what is the most efficient route to return to the charging base.

Memory Control, return via the most efficient route

Thus, It is much more effective and efficient than the most basic robots with random navigation or in real time. The 1490 cleans the entire surface, and it does so in less time, since it does not pass through the same place several times, and moves in a systematic and orderly manner.

Through the app we can see how the robot goes through all the rooms of the house in an orderly manner. The app will also show us the cleaning history and allow us access to other functions, although it is not interactive nor does it save the map.

iTech SmartGyro 2.0 navigation technology

If we needed limit the robot's access to an area of the house, we could optionally acquire the magnetic strip, which allows us to delimit an area that the robot will not pass.

The operation of the Conga 1490 is very good, It is a very balanced robot, which combines high suction power and an advanced navigation system with the effectiveness of other elements, like the brushes and the two-material mop.

When it comes to cleaning carpets, it also does a good job. Unlike other robots, it has no problems with carpets of a certain thickness, since It is capable of exceeding up to 2 centimeters in height, and its Turbo Clean Carpet technology activates maximum power mode when it detects that it is on one, to achieve optimal results.

Regarding the noise level, this model remains in line with other Conga, standing below 64 decibels, so it won't bother you or your neighbors.

Silent

Regarding autonomy, The 160 minutes provided by its lithium battery are more than enough to clean large surfaces., and even more so if we take into account the efficiency in its navigation, which allows you to clean faster.

The robot returns itself to the charging base when it is running out of battery and when cleaning is complete. Besides, If it has not finished cleaning completely, it will return to the base and once charged, it will resume cleaning where it left off..

Cleaning modes

Thanks to Conga 1490, you can achieve a high degree of customization. In addition to its 3 power levels and 3 scrubbing levels, it has 10 cleaning modes, so you can configure home cleaning according to your needs:

Auto mode: it is the most common mode, the one that is activated by default and in which it works if you press the button on the top of the robot. In automatic mode, the robot will cover 100% of the surface of the home, until it is completely cleaned. (If it doesn't finish, thanks to its Total Surface technology, it will recharge and then resume cleaning where it left off).

Edges: A classic mode in many robots, ideal for cleaning that dirt that accumulates on edges and corners.

Turbo Clean Carpet: As we have already mentioned, It is perfect for deep cleaning carpets.; The robot will activate maximum power when it detects that it is on one of them, for an optimal result.

Coming home: If we want send the robot home manually, we can do it using this function.

Twice: Is there a area where dirt accumulates? Use Twice mode, and the robot will make several passes, for a deeper cleaning.

Intensive scrubbing: Cecotec has the most advanced scrubbing technology in multifunction robots. The 1490 will make back and forth movements, similar to what people do when scrubbing, to achieve an excellent result.

Area: If you want clean a small area, for example, under a table, use this mode.

Gyro: It is similar to automatic mode, but more suitable for cleaning a single room.

Random: Although this robot has systematic cleaning, in some cases you may want it to also perform diagonal movements, so that not a speck escapes. With this mode, the 1490 can pass the same place several times, similar to what more basic robots do.

Manual: When we have to move the robot, instead of carrying it by hand, we can drive as if it were a remote controlled car.

Cleaning modes

The scrubbing is going to end

La Conga 1490, like her sisters, is a multifunction robot, capable of sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and scrubbing, and performing all four functions at the same time..

Cecotec has been equipping its robots with this capacity for years, and this has allowed it to develop what is possibly the best scrubbing system within multifunction robots.

Thanks to Scrubbing technology, The 1490 Impulse performs a back-and-forth movement, which allows it to scrub more intensively than other robots on the market., which simply wet mop as they go.

Conga 1490 Impulse mopping floor

The 1490 has a new generation mixed tank, which includes electronic dosing of the water flow.

This allows us establish the water flow depending on the type of soil or the needs of each moment.

For example, for wooden floors or when there is not much dirt, we can use the low level. When cleaning needs are greater, we can use the medium level; And if there is a high degree of dirt, with the high level, the robot will soak a little more soil, which, together with the effectiveness of its bi-material mop, will allow you to obtain a better result.

Opinions on the Conga 1490

It works perfect. He had a lot of dust in the house and he left it spectacular. The application is perfect, it's a shame I didn't buy it sooner.

I come from a robot with random navigation, which went around the floor a lot and usually got lost. This robot maps the house, so it finishes faster and always returns to base. In addition, it has several cleaning modes, a high power mode and a long battery life. I am delighted with the robot, I use it daily and the house is spotless.

It saves me a lot of time and leaves my floor very clean.. It cleans very well, I am delighted.

Recommended, it cleans the dust from the parquet and it is quite clean. Also mops without flooding the floor, it is very functional.

After several months of use, I can't live without her anymore. It has good absorption power, is easy to clean, and vacuums and scrubs very well. Highly recommended.

There is a before and after in my life, it is the best thing I have done after having my daughter. It makes my tasks 200% easier, and it is easily controllable through the app.

Why buy one Conga 1490 Impulse

If you're looking for simple but very equipped robot, manageable through app and voice commands, with intelligent navigation and capable of performing various functions, Conga 1490 can be an interesting alternative.

If you want to purchase a robot modern and with a beautiful design. If you want it to be powerful and clean all types of surfaces well, but you are looking for a Great value for the price, Conga 1490 is a great option.

  1. Hello, Jose M. Thank you for coming to our website.

To clean a room, you can use Gyro mode this way, when the robot is done, it will return to the point where it started from, instead of back to base.

To mop, the robot can do it at the same time as vacuuming, there are some users who prefer to vacuum first and then mop, but normally it is not necessary.

The map is not interactive, as is the case in other high-end ones, with laser navigation, so it does not help you give orders to the robot (to clean a certain area, for example), but it does help the robot to know what it should do. clean, where it has gone and where it has not, and thus clean everything, efficiently.

Yes, the best option if you want to clean only the rooms is to close the doors to the rest.

We hope we have helped you, if you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask us.

  2. I have the conga 1490, various questions
1-If I take the conga from the base, I take him to a room and close the door, at some point will he stop because he's finished even if he can't return to the base?
2- To scrub, what is more convenient to use the auto program or the auto without scrubbing and once vacuumed the scrubbing program?
3- That the map is not interactive, which means that it is of no use? Can't I send it to a certain area?
    4. If instead of doing the entire apartment, since I cannot divide an area into zones, what should I do if I only want to do the rooms, closing off the rest?
Thanks and sorry, I'm new to this...

  3. Hello, Consol, thank you for coming to our website and for your words.

The truth is that sometimes it is difficult to know where to proceed to remove the different elements, until you get the hang of it, each manufacturer does it in its own way, and even within it it often varies depending on the model. Normally there are tabs that can be activated to release the filter or, in the case of mixed tanks of Conga, you will see that once the dirt tank is removed, you can open the lid and pull out the filter.

  4. Hello!

Thanks for your post. After having gone through the connectivity problems that usually happen to everyone (connecting to a Wi-Fi network that is not 4G or 5G), I managed to get it up and running and I loved it.

The problem I have is that (I must be very stupid) I can't remove the filters. I have removed the dirt tank; It was difficult but I managed to remove the little box where the water tank is supposed to be, but from there, I am unable to locate anything to extract the filters.

    Can you help me?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Hello Yballa, thanks for visiting us.

Yes, with the mop you can mop, if you put water in the tank, or use it dry if you don't add it (you can slightly moisten the mop with a specific spray for this, if you want, for example, to polish the wooden floor).

On the other hand, you don't need to do anything special to make it vacuum and scrub at the same time; put it to scrub, and by default at the same time it will vacuum.

  7. Hello again, Paula.

The robot must normally be on the charging base, and is plugged into the network. When it finishes charging, it will be on standby, with very low consumption, but if it were removed from the charging base, it would discharge. From what you say, it seems that either the robot is not properly placed on the base, or it is not making good contact (or it has some other problem that prevents it from charging properly). Normally, being in the base, it should be charged until it has a full charge, and if you do not use it, it will be fully charged waiting for you to use it, it does not discharge and charge.

In short, check that the charging base is firmly supported and does not move when the robot connects to it; also, that it is on a completely smooth surface, for the same reason. On the other hand, clean the terminals (the little metal plates through which it charges), both of the robot and the charging base, with a soft cotton or microfiber cloth. If by doing all this, you see that what you mentioned continues to happen to you, we recommend that you contact the Cecotec SAT.

  9. Hello, I have the Conga 1490, after spending two days at the charging base and using the loaded app, I put it to work and not even 5m have passed, it goes to the base because it ran out of battery... it's not normal... this has happened to me once
Another question, when the battery runs out and goes to the base, the app tells me that when it is charged it will clean again... does it have to come out again yes or yes?', I would like to be the one to put it back in and not her

    • Hello Paula, thanks for visiting us.

As for the first question, no, it is not normal, if it is loaded, it should not do that, a question, although it occurs to us that it is possible that it returned to the base because in some way it had to finish the cleaning and did for that reason, not because it had run out of battery.

As for the second question, the robot does this because it has charging and continuation, that is, if it detects that it has not cleaned the entire house, it then resumes cleaning to finish.

To start it you can use the button at the top and it will work in automatic mode. To program it, you would need to have the app, or a remote control. This model is basically the same as the Conga 1590 (which does come with a remote control as standard), so we suggest that you contact Cecotec and purchase a remote control, so you can program and operate it more comfortably.

We don't know what you mean exactly, but the navigation of this robot is quite neat. Of course, it may not finish a room and move on to the next, and then go to a more distant room and return to the first, even robots with more advanced, laser-based navigation do this.

What is recommended, both in this robot and in others (it is a recommendation that all manufacturers generally make), is to have the robot on the charging base, with it plugged in (consumption is minimal).

  17. Hello, Juan Carlos, thank you for visiting us.

When doing this, it is recommended that the robot be close to the router. If your router is dual, that is, if you have two networks, one 2,4 GHz and one 5 GHz, keep in mind that you must choose the 2,4 GHz one (the 5 GHz one will have 5G or similar).

If you follow the steps of This Video and despite that, you have problems when configuring the connection, it is possible that it is a matter of the phone configuration. If this is the problem, keep in mind that on Android, an option called “Activate WiFi automatically” or similar (depending on the version) will normally be activated, which automatically connects to quality WiFi networks, and can cause problems.

To turn it off, go to Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > WiFi Preferences and turn off “Turn on WiFi automatically.” Return to the app, start the process again and when “Sending a message to the robot” appears, go to Settings > Network and Internet and connect to the network with a name similar to “Conga_***.” You go back to the app, choose the normal Wi-Fi network again and in a few seconds you will see how it connects.

Another problem that some users of connectable robots encounter is due to smart routers, which connect you to the 2,4 GHz or 5 GHz network depending on the type of device. If this were your case, perhaps you would have to deactivate this smart Wifi so that it can detect it. Here you can watch a tutorial about the topic.

The connection is unique, that is, when you connect from one phone, the other is disconnected, that is, if it is being operated from one phone, you will not be able to see it from the other; What is a little more strange is the history, because it is saved, even if you close the session. You can try doing it with different accounts, that is, create an account with a different email on each mobile.

  21. Hello, Ana, thank you for visiting us.

We understand that you are referring to the programming option of the app (since the remote control in this model is optional; if you are referring to the remote control, tell us).

In the app, the programming is similar in all of these Conga new generation. When you enter the corresponding option, a window will appear indicating that there is no programming, or it will show you what there is.

In any case, the procedure is as follows: you click the + at the top, and configure the programming as you want. When you finish, click save.

If it hasn't worked for you, only two things come to mind: either you have forgotten to save it (in that case, it would not appear on the programming screen when you enter it), or you have set a time before the one you wanted. is. For example, if we go to schedule one right now, by default the schedule is set to the current day and time. But right now it is 17:11 p.m. and if we save the schedule with that same time, which is what it offers us by default, it will not start cleaning because the start time has already passed (17:11 p.m. has passed before saving programming), and then it will not start.

The other, which may possibly work out better for you, is that you decide on the Conga 1590, which for 10 euros more (at the time of writing this answer), includes the remote control and several other things, such as the BestFriend Care rubber brush, the magnetic strip and the exclusive tank for solids (you can see the analysis of the Conga 1590 here).

    All the best

  24. Hello, in the characteristics of this model I see that it says "optional remote control", and I would like to use it in a space that does not have an internet connection, so I could not use the mobile application. What controller can I use and where can I purchase it? I can't find it on the manufacturer's website.
    Thank you very much.

  25. Hello, Yolanda, thank you for coming to our website.

The manufacturer's recommendation (this and other robot manufacturers) is that it always be on the charging base when not in use, unless it is going to be unused for a long period of time. Being a lithium battery, it is assumed that it does not have a memory effect, so the useful life would not be affected.

On the other hand, when the robot is finished it returns to the charging base. But, if you wish, you can also send it before, from the button that says "base" in the app.

    All the best

  26. Hello, Elisabeth, thank you for coming to our website.

You would have to create two different schedules, one to vacuum and mop every day, and then you would create another to mop one day a week. Logically, they should be at different times, so that the robot has time to finish.

On the other hand, no, it is not mandatory to clean with water every day, you can set the days you want.

    All the best

  27. Hello, my question is that I would like to vacuum and mop every day, but clean the floor with water only once a week. What program should I use?

With this model of conga 1490 Is it mandatory to clean the floor with water every day?
Thanks greetings. I wait for a response

    • I have the model conga 1490 and he asks me if it charges every time it goes to the base? If so, won't it affect the life of the battery if it is charged before it runs out? Or is it that it will be cleaning until the battery runs out and we can't send it before then?
