Talking about Philips is talking about consumer electronics, and it is also talking about well-made and functional devices. The European company has more than a century of history, since it was founded by Gerard Philips in the Dutch city of Eindhoven, to manufacture incandescent lamps and other electrical appliances.

In 1891, physical engineer Gerard Philips founded the company, together with his father and brother, in the Eindhoven area of ​​the Netherlands.

In 1918 he introduced the x-ray tube and an x-ray repair service, leading to the creation of the medical division of the company.

In 1926, it created its subsidiary in Spain, in principle, importing the products from Holland, although it would soon begin manufacturing in our country.

In 1948 television was introduced in Spain (8 years before its launch, in 1956), thanks to the Philips physics laboratory. Later, the company would contribute to the enormous diffusion of the device in homes, being one of the main manufacturers.

Another of the company's brands, Philishave would also become one of the favorites when shaving.

In 1982 he created, together with Sony, the compact disc, which represented a milestone in the music industry, and in computing, due to its great capacity to store data.

In 2014 it launched on the market the first Smart TV with Android.

Today, Philips remains one of the European and world leaders in various fields, with an annual turnover of more than 20.000 million euros and more than 100.000 workers around the world.

Its main product ranges are: sound and television, health computing (it has a large implementation in hospitals), personal care (shavers, epilators, electric brushes), mother and baby care (with the Avent range), lighting , and small household appliances, including coffee makers, blenders, fryers, irons and, of course, vacuum cleaners.

Within the vacuum range, it has a wide variety of products, from the classic sled-type vacuum cleaners, with and without a bag, to robot vacuum cleaners, including broom vacuum cleaners.

The company makes a large investment in R&D, with laboratories in Holland, Germany, Belgium, China and India, where more than 2.000 people work.
