The BISSELL brand

Bissell is an American company, not yet very well known in Spain, but which has been in the cleaning world for more than 140 years. An extraordinarily long history, which can only be explained if products are made that meet expectations.

Bissell's story begins with the creation in 1876 of a carpet broom. The success of the invention reached Queen Victoria, who at the end of the XNUMXth century wanted her palace cleaned with her every week.

From there, the company diversified, adding other products, and also incorporating systems to heat water, detergent liquids and other elements, to achieve greater cleaning.

Our overall rating is 90 out of 100. It is a specific product, it is not for daily cleaning, but it is very useful for removing stains and cleaning the layer of dirt that usually accumulates on upholstery.

The results are excellent on recent stains, thanks to the combination of the detergents it incorporates and the brushing that is carried out.

If the stain is old, it will probably be necessary to work persistently on it, and it is possible that, in some cases, if it is very embedded, it will not come out 100%. However, it will leave it very attenuated, the effects of Spot Clean are clearly visible.

It's a little loud, 74 decibels. In any case, nothing exaggerated, like an average sled vacuum cleaner.

Drying upholstery or carpet requires several passes, and even then it may be slightly damp. It is not very problematic either, you simply have to let it dry: in a few hours, the issue is solved. In fact, the instructions indicate that when using Oxygen Boost, it continues to act several hours later.

The instructions do not come in Spanish (although, as we mentioned, it is very easy to use, and we put the translation at the end of this article, so that it is not an inconvenience).

In addition to the appliance itself, the use of detergents is required (the use of products from other brands could void the warranty). It is not that this implies an excessive expense, due to the type of use that is made of this device, but it is worth taking it into account.

Bissell SpotClean: getting started

We have received the stain remover correctly packaged. The instructions did not come in Spanish (only in English and German), but It is quite intuitive and easy to assemble. Additionally, in the video you can see how easy it can be to remove stains with Spot Clean.

However, below we give you a summary of the steps to follow, to make it easier for you, if you decide to buy this device.

The Bissell Spot Clean consists of a central body, to which two tanks are attached (easily): one, which we will fill with water and cleaning solutions (which are included), and another, in which the dirty water will be deposited.

In addition, Three plastic elements are included that also snap into the machine: one in front, to place the hose, and two in the back, one as a support for the hose and the other as a cable reel.

It also includes two containers of stain remover liquids, which are used in the cleaning process:

• Bissell SpotClean Boost, for difficult stains.
• Bissell 2X SpotClean Spot & Stain, for recent stains.

Bissell SpotClean: how to use

The Bissell SpotClean is very easy to use. Simply fill with hot water and cleaning solutions, attach the reservoirs and cleaning brush, and get started.

La Heatwave technology that the device incorporates allows the water temperature to be maintained, to achieve greater cleaning.

Hitting the button, a splash of water spray (in two or three times that we try it, we already get the hang of the distance, the way of pressing, etc.).

We rub gently with the brush and, after a few minutes, we pass the cleaning tool over it., which at the same time sucks up the remains of dirt and humidity (it collects it in the other tank).

In the case of deep stains, we can press the sprayer and collect the water and rub with the brush at the same time, for a more intense action.

Bissell SpotClean 3698: conclusions

The Bissell SpotClean vacuums, but it is not a conventional vacuum cleaner (although we are talking about it on MyVacuum!). It is a stain remover device, which can help us eliminate those stubborn stains that we may have on carpets, upholstery, etc.

In practice, the vacuum function is mainly used to collect excess liquid in the dirty water tank.

It does its job well on stains on carpets., cleans dirt without leaving apparent traces, being capable of cleaning a wide variety of stains.

We have also tested it cleaning the car upholstery. The results have been quite good, leaving it almost like new.. In this case, there was a very old stain, which had to be worked on longer, insisting on cleaning with more liquid and more brushing, with a great result.

It is somewhat noisy, like a conventional vacuum cleaner. However, it is not something that we give excessive importance to in this case, since Its use is more occasional than that of a vacuum cleaner, since we will use it to remove stains.

It weighs just over four kilograms, which is not excessive to transport it. Furthermore, most of the time we will have it perched on some surface, so this is not a problem either.

If you are cleaning an old upholstery or a carpet that has been with us for a long time, It may be necessary to clean it completely, and not just where the stain is, so that there are no differences in tone. (make a cleaner area stand out from the rest).

Instructions for the Bissell SpotClean in Spanish

Mounting

1. Hook the hose clip into the opening on the front of the machine. You will hear a “click” when it is locked into place.
2. Attach the hose clamp to the back of the machine, on the clean side of the tank (back). Wrap the hose around the appliance and snap the hose onto the bracket (on that clamp).
3. Attach the cable reel by snapping it into place on the dirty side of the machine tank (back). Wind the power cord around it.

Starting

1. To fill the clean water tank:
2. Remove the reservoir by lifting it up and out.
3. Pull the black tab to open the tank. The cap twists for easy filling.
4. The tank has markings, depending on whether it is a large stain (large mess) or a small one (small mess) (that is, it will be filled more or less depending on the surface to be cleaned). Depending on cleaning needs, fill with hot tap water up to the water fill line. To nothing Oxygen Boost to the Oxy Boost fill line. To nothing Bissell 2x formula to the corresponding line. Do not boil water or microwave it.
5. Close the cap by turning it and pressing gently.
6. Replace the tank, aligning the bottom of it with the notches on the machine. Press firmly on the tank to secure it in that position.
7. Release the hose from the hose grip bracket. Unroll the hose completely from around the unit.
8. Insert the tool (the brush) into the end of the hose until it clicks into place.
9. Twist the quick-release cord wrap clockwise to fully unwrap the power cord (the top of the cord wrap rotates clockwise, allowing the cord to unwrap easily).

Cleaning with the Bissell SpotClean

1. Plug the unit in and turn it on by pressing the center button under the carrying handle.
2. Hold the cleaning tool approximately 2,5 centimeters above the dirty surface. Fire the spray (by pressing a button on the tube) to apply the cleaning solution to the dirty area.
3. Using the tool's cleaning brush, gently scrub the area to be cleaned.
4. For a deep clean, spray additional solution while the brush and vacuum are in contact with the surface.
5. Apply downward pressure on the cleaning tool and pull towards you. Suction removes dirt and cleaning solution. Continue until there is no more dirt that can be removed.
6. As a final step, make several “blotting” passes (without pressing the spray) to extract as much liquid as possible. Repeat this step as many times as necessary.
7. When you use Oxygen Boost, it will continue to work for 6-8 hours, cleaning stains until the carpet is restored.

Machine care

1. Unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
2. Empty and rinse the dirty water tank after each use, or when it reaches the maximum fill line.
3. Remove the tank by pulling up and out.
4. Pull the tab to remove the tank cap.
5. Rinse the tank with clean water after emptying it.
6. Disconnect the cleaning tool (you have to press a little button to unlock it). Do not twist the cleaning tool to remove it.
7. The front nozzle of the tool can be removed for easy cleaning. Press the button on the top of the tool and slide the top of the cleaning tool. Rinse with clean water and replace the front nozzle on the cleaning tool. Rinse other cleaning utensils used with clean water.
8. Check the sprayer for accumulated dirt or debris. If necessary, clean it with a soft bristle brush.
9. The dirty water tank float can be removed. Turn the latch assembly (kind of like a large plug) counterclockwise to unlock the position and pull down and out on the reservoir to remove it. Rinse with clean water until all dirt is removed. Replace the float in the dirty water tank, and turn the latch assembly clockwise to the locked position.

Storage of the device

The water and cleaning formula can be left in the clean water tank for next use.

1. Wind the power cord around the cord wrap on the back of the machine.
2. Wrap the hose around the base of the unit and secure the hose handle to its clamp.
3. Store the unit in a protected area, in a dry place, at room temperature (4° to 43° C).
